"DID YOU KNOW"  --- D.A.R.E.  Launches New   '"HIGH SCHOOL CURRICULUM"  -  now being delivered as part of the D.A.R.E. Officer Training.   Last summer, the new High School program was released and has proven to be a highly sought after resource for educating students at this vulnerable level. The curricula contains three distinct modules - REAL Messages,  My Playbook (with an optional segment for student athletes) and a collection of stand alone presentations, the first of which is   Celebrating Safely.   The curricula components are independent, but supportive of one another, and can be implemented individually or as a complete suite.  This curricula is very officer friendly.  Students obtain an on-line identity with DARE, and complete the segments on-line, without the officer being present.
This new curricula offers educators and law enforcement flexible and cost-effective options for providing students with relevant and timely tools to exercise responsible decision making.

New K-2 Curriculum introduced..
A new K-2curriculum was introduced.  It has been updated to meet the needs of our current trends at that age level.  New charts have been introduced.     The format is the same with the topic picture on front and your lesson plan on the back.   If you are teaching this level, even on an occasional basis, just e-mail me and request a copy of the charts and I will get them to you.
As Always, Partners in Prevention.

 Transition to New Curriculum,

I believe all Ontario officers have now received training in the new curriculum released last summer.

If not, please advise me at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it and arrangements will be made to accomodate this.

The new curriculum MUST be taught as of September 2013.

The D.A.R.E. curriculum is designed to be taught by police officers whose training and experience gave them the background needed to answer the sophisticated questions often posed by young students about drugs and crime. Prior to entering the D.A.R.E. program, officers undergo 80 hours of special training in areas such as child development, classroom management, teaching techniques, and communication skills. 40 hours of additional training are provided to D.A.R.E. instructors to prepare them to teach the high school curriculum.
